My love for Midwifery began with the birth of my second child. At first, the idea of birthing my baby at home was foreign and frightening.  My husband's desire to have our child born at home and the cost effectiveness of home vs. Hospital birth won out over my fears.  During labor and immediately postpartum, I knew that I never wanted to give birth any other way.  The peace and comfort that I experienced being in my home, my bathroom, my bed, and surrounded with people who knew and cared about me was irreplaceable!

I have had the great joy in experiencing home birth with nine of my eleven children and being "midwife" and delivering my grandchildren at home.  I can't express enough the gratitude and appreciation I have for my God and savior for helping me and directing my path.  I'm so grateful for the support of my husband, midwives, assistants, friends, and family that have encouraged me over the 22 years+ of childbearing.  The joy we have shared with each other as we greeted each new life with excitement and love has been overwhelming.  The amazing experiences I had with my own births, have been the foundation for my pursuit in the profession of midwifery.

I believe true midwifery is a calling. I am honored that God has entrusted me with that calling.  My desire is to answer that call to help other women achieve their dreams of having their babies born in the loving atmosphere of their own homes just as I was able to.

I will never forget the feelings I experienced while helping at my first birth.  I was in awe watching the incredible human body functioning the way God designed it to.  WIth each contraction, I watched the mother's body language and the expressions on her face.  The love she exhibited as she caressed her newborn baby in those sacred moments after birth was unforgettable.  I knew then that I wanted to learn all that I could, so I could be the best midwife that God designed me to be.

I'm so blessed be able to help families in the most sacred moments of birth and will continue to fulfill this call as long as God grants me the ability!

Meet my partner midwife.......

It is my great joy and honor to introduce my daughter and midwifery partner, Jessica.  She has also accepted the call on her life to serve as a CPM.  By God's grace, "He worked all things together for His good" for mother & daughter to work together as MIDWIVES.

My Story
IMG_8002.jpg

Being the oldest of 11 Children, 9 of which were born at our home, Midwifery has always been familiar, comfortable, and near to my heart. I remember in my early teens sitting by our warm fireplace in the middle of the night watching my mom pace and sway with each contraction. My dad working as her teammate, rubbing her back and supporting her. The bubbling excitement I felt making it hard to sit still and be patient. With fondness I recall the midwife peacefully rocking and knitting a small hat for the new life about to be born, all while keeping a watchful eye and softly speaking encouraging words. As I got older I was blessed to be “apart of the team”, and assist with the births of many of my siblings. I'm more thankful than I can say for the privilege of now working alongside my mom as midwives for other women.

The wonder and joy that fills a room when a baby takes its first breath is without compare! It's something I will never ever get tired of experiencing. I’m always left in awe, watching mama and baby meet each other face to face. The moment she gets to put her hands on that little one that she grew, nourished, and brought into this world with her own body. A tangible piece of her heart.

Being able to give women the opportunity to live that moment in the comfort, tranquility, and familiarity of their own homes is what drives me to do what we do. Coming along side a mother to guide and care for her, as she decides how she will welcome her sweet new baby.

Birth Assistant in training.....
                   Hannah Rodriguez

There are times when two births occur at once which requires Jessica and I to split up to support each mom. When this occurs, we will each try to use a back up midwife to assist with us at these births.  We are also training up my daughter, Hannah to assist when needed.
